Hunter/Jumper Training
Since 1988 Carrie
Orcutt and daughter Jill Andrews have been operating the Los Lagos Hunter/Jumper Training Barn. All Levels of horses
and riders from Novice through Advanced are accepted. They regularly attend
local SAHJA schooling shows as well as A and B Circuit shows throughout California, Nevada, and Canada.
Carrie teaches most of the lessons
which are personalized to each rider's ndividual goals with a focus on positive
coaching, safety and success. Group and/or private sessions are available
5 days a week depending on the needs and schedules of each individual.
With the large lighted covered arena, training programs
are not
interrupted by rain or inclement weather. If you do not own a
horse, we may have horses available to lease, or we can help you
find
a suitable horse to purchase. .
We offer 3, 4, or 5 day programs. Full Training includes a combination
of schooling rides and lessons 5 days each week in Jumping and/or Dressage work. Horses receive daily
training and exercise along with quality feed. Turn-outs, lunging, blanketing, supplies and professional
grooming are also included in the program. Our prices reflect the quality and high standard of care and training.
We also have the luxury of the peaceful Folsom Lake Riding Trails and beaches adjacent to the Facility. It is
very pleasant to take a quiet ride on the trails or to the beach with friends. Our riders also find it is a great way to cool down after
a strenuous jumping or flat lesson.
We Train Young, Green, or Problem Horses
Los Lagos is the place if you have a Green Hunter or Jumper. Jill has over 20 years of training and show experience and an uncanny ability to train your young green horse in Dressage and Jumping. This is the most critical time in a horse's training experience especially for jumping. They learn their flat work and lead changes early on and jump a variety of jumps so that nothing will be difficult for the horse when attending shows and/or the owner takes over. Their jumping and lateral work is started slowly and correctly. We are careful not to over-do the Green or young horses and strictly monitor their soundness.
If you have a problem horse, she can evaluate it and advise you
what program you should consider to bring out the best in your
investment. She is amazing with these horses, and you will be
happy with the results.
Our
horses are happy and willing to learn as training sessions are kept
positive. They are exposed to plenty of activity at the barn, and may
even enjoy a trail ride to the Lake.
